Recording Application Audio, iShowU and iShowU HD
In order to record audio from applications, iShowU and iShowU HD need Soundflower installed. This article will tell you what you need to know to install it, what gets installed, and also how to uninstall it if you wish to remove it later.

1. Download the Soundflower package installer. |

2. Open the DMG from your Downloads folder. Run the package installed by double clicking it.

3. Click the "Continue" button and follow the install through (agreeing to the license in the process).

4. The installer will do it's thing - after which you can close it.

5. Verify that the Soundflower 2ch device exists in
System Preferences -> Sound -> Output
If it doesn't - please restart your mac.

Why is it required?
As shipped, OS X does not provide us any way to record audio coming from applications. So we have to install this driver to "workaround" that limitation.
Although Soundflower is a "driver" ... don't let that phase you. It's actually really really simple. Think of it as a pipe. All it does it make the sound that's "played" to it end up at the other end of the pipe. What iShowU does is this:

- It sets up the Default Output of your computer, so that it plays audio to Soundflower.
- It then records that to the movie, and also plays it back to your speakers - so you can hear it.
