Is this you?

  • Got HD version 2.1.5?
  • Do you see Yellow triangles where recordings should be?
  • Or maybe your thumbnail says "Compressing..." and never stops?

1. First Step - get the LATEST version

Get the latest version of iShowU HD. Check that the problem still persists.

This is really important. We've made some fixes and there are still old versions of 2.1.5 about - so updating the latest 2.1.5 can really make a significant difference!

If that does work - please let Neil know! It'll help him sleep at night!

If updating to the latest version doesn't help you, then please read on.

First, lets get your files back. See: Recovering recordings

2. Get hold of Neil

If you've experienced this and the latest update isn't solving the problem - we want to hear from you.  It looks like in fixing one problem, we've uncovered another - and it's affecting a number of 2.1.5 users (booooooo!).

Some users are seeing that the compression stage never completes. We want to fix this but try as we might cannot reproduce it here. We need your help to squash this bug

You can reach Neil Clayton (the developer) by Skype. It's the quickest way, because then he can see your screen as well (no idea what we're talking about? check out this page).

Neil's Skype ID: scornflake

He lives in New Zealand, so please be aware of timezone differences.

2. Possible solutions

We would really like you to get hold of us to discuss the problem and see if we can find the solution. If timezone differences prevent that, then please try:

  1. Making sure that support for assistive devices is enabled. To check this, open up your System Preferences and go to Universal Access. Second item from the bottom is a checkbox called "Enable support for assistive devices". This needs to be enabled.
  2. If you have "Pro" - try using Low CPU mode.

3. Still no joy? Here's a workaround:

Download version 2.1.4 or version 2.1.3 from http://shinywhitebox.com.
